The Bolder BOULDER is THE premiere 10k running race in Colorado and has been recognized by Runner’s World as one the best in the country. There are now over 50,000 people who race, run and walk to celebrate Memorial Day. How do you manage a race this size and still offer a great race experience all entries? Simple, create over 100 starting waves in which runners and walkers can complete the course with others of similar abilities and paces. The Bolder Boulder 10k also draws top talent from around the world with its unique and separate International Team Challenge which fields elite runners and Olympians from around the world.

In order to get placed into the first 31 waves of your peers you need proof of a qualifying time. Here is a chart of wave qualifying standards which include races from 2 miles to the marathon. If you need a qualifying time, the easiest way is to find a local 5k race or go run on the treadmill for 2 miles in the Bolder Boulder Store located on 28th Street next to Qdoba’s just north of Arapahoe Road.

The Bolder Boulder Store is now open for race registration, packet pickup and you can run a qualifying time on the treadmill there. It is no longer at the 29th Street Mall but across the street next to Qdoba’s in the Buffalo Village Shopping Center.
Live race updates and behind the scenes at the Bolder Boulder
Be sure to check out their twitter feed for elite race updates and be sure to follow them on Snapchat (TheBB10k) for behind the scenes updates on race day. Use hashtags
#boldnation, #BolderBOULDER or #BB10k.
Runners are encouraged to share their Bold Nation stories through the hashtag #BoldNation but also to upload their story and photo on the Bolder BOULDER facebook page. They are looking for funny BB stories, pictures and videos. Whether you run with a group, your crazy family or your bestie, they want to hear about what makes it special for you. How many times have you done the BB? Are you an age group champ? Set a personal record? Do you come out just to cheer every year? Been a volunteer? Seen or done something unbelievable? Want to give a shout-out?
Runners were also asked to submit videos by April 1. The Bolder Boulder staff then picked the best of the best, got their stories captured by the pros and will upload to the facebook page where the public can vote on their favorite story starting May 1.

There is always a ton of stuff to do race weekend, but its best to pick and choose so you are not on your feet for too long. Last year there were special events like a fun run and Q&A with Sketcher’s athletes Kara Goucher and Meb Keflezighi. Make sure to check back to BoulderRunning.com for updated events.
