On any given day on my Instagram feed, I can’t help but be inspired with images that runners take as they are out on their runs. In the early morning light, on mountain tops, through the snow, with and without friends. We wanted to celebrate those moments in the pages of the first ever Boulder Running Journal in a feature we call Seen On My Run.

This profile of contributor Amy Machael, is the first in a series of posts celebrating those who made this all possible. Follow along and tag your photos with #SeenOnMyRun and #BoulderRunningJournal for a chance to be featured.

Amy started running with her mom when she was 12 years old, then moved to Boulder as a senior in high school. She enjoyed running 5-6 miles at a time, never more than a 10k and always alone. She took some time off from her running when she got married and to have twins. When she did take it up again seven years later she looked for people/groups to run with and found Moms Run This Town (MRTT), a free nationwide running club with chapters all over the US.

It wasn’t until then that I started running more than 5 miles with the women I now call my BRFs (best running friends). Those are the women you see in all my pics. It was then I found my love for running.

What she gets from this community is summed up this quote from Amy Poehler and hopes that anyone that wants to run can find the same.

Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them and it will change your life.

Amy is currently an Ambassador for skirtsports, 3WRacesRagnarCO, BoulderBodyworker, and Boulder MRTT CL and each week looks forward to being productive with a good balance of workouts and spending time with family. Her next big adventure is taking on the 50 mile 2016 The North Face Endurance Challenge in California (December 3-4).

“I’ve only done one marathon and never run longer than that. So this is going to be epic for me! And I am SO looking forward to the challenge and the ride!”
