Boulder, CO – March 1, 2011.
The BolderBOULDER will kick start its official training program with the help of five Colorado based Olympians and professional runners. They will join a team of ‘BoldRunning’ coaches to take prospective participants on a sample fun run.
Director of the BoldRuning program, Ewen North says, “This will be a great opportunity to come out and rub shoulders with runners who have a genuine shot at making London 2012. The idea is also to allow people to sample the training group ahead of time to give them a taster before they commit to the program.”
The event will take place on Saturday March 12th at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Flatiron Crossing Mall in Broomfield, starting at 10:00am. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience or ability.
The Olympians and professional runners will include; Boulder residents, Jorge Torres, a Beijing Olympian and former CU Buff, Lee Troop, a three time Australian Olympian in the marathon and Jason Hartman, the first American at the 2010 Chicago Marathon. Joining them will be another former CU Buff and Olympic marathon hopeful, Tera Moody, along with Broomfield based pro Kristen Zaitz, who has represented Team USA at the World Half Marathon Championships.
All athletes are well versed in the BolderBOULDER 10K course, having competed in the International Team Challenge, the professional race following the main event.
“We specifically invited athletes who have experience running the BolderBOULDER. Now we have a team of true professionals who can answer questions about how best to tackle the course.” North adds.
Runners who attend the event will have the opportunity to sign up for the program, find out more about how it works and to win prizes and giveaways, including Dicks Sporting Goods Coupons, Native sunglasses, Sea Level is for Sissies shirts and BolderBOULDER socks.
The official 10 week BolderBOULDER training program begins the week of March 21st.
