High caliber competition comes to Colorado in February when Boulder hosts the 2014 USATF National Cross Country Championships. Fleet Feet is a proud sponsor and Boulder is a perfect setting for the event, especially given the success of the CU men’s and women’s cross country programs and the city’s status as a go-to training mecca for distance runners. The crowd support is always top-notch and the event is sure to draw running enthusiasts from all over the country.

Join us to hear four cross country specialists discuss the sport and the upcoming national event, and participate in an informative Q&A. Speakers on the panel will be:

Steve Jones

An athlete from Wales and a former world marathon record holder, Jonesy is no stranger to running success and currently coaches athletes in Boulder.


Benita Willis

An Australian long-distance runner, Benita is a former world cross country champion and a four-time Olympian.

Melody Fairchild

A 2013 U.S. Masters National Champion in the 5K, 15K and trail half marathon, Melody is a Boulder native and Boulder HS alumni who runs a successful coaching business.

Richard Medina

 A former CU athlete, Richard was a cross country and track All American and recently represented the U.S. at the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country event.


Kathy Butler 

Butler was born in Edinburgh of English parents and brought up in London until her parents emigrated to Ontario, Canada when she was 10. She attended the University of Guelph,  Canada before transferring to the University of Wisconsin, USA. In 2004 she was inducted into the University of Wisconsin hall of fame. In 2005 she inducted into the University of Guelph hall of fame.

She ran the World Cross Country Championships Senior Women 4k – 4th place in 1999


The clinic is free and open to the public.
