Boulder Marathon Cancelled

With two short weeks before race day, the race director of the Boulder Marathon, Half Marathon and 5 mile event announced all events scheduled for October 5th would be cancelled again this year citing complications from last year’s floods. According to the Daily Camera, race director Jeff Mason may have failed to pull permits soon enough.

All registered runners for all events will be able to use their paid entry fee for either the 2015 Boulder Spring Half Marathon, or next fall’s Boulder Marathon Event. And according to the announcement, runners will be sent a no-charge registration link for either the spring or fall events once dates have been finalized.

Unfortunately it has become necessary to postpone the Boulder Marathon event until fall 2015. The hurdles and challenges in the wake of the Boulder Flood one year ago ultimately made it impossible to produce the Boulder Marathon event in 2014. Add to this the tragedy that occurred at the Boulder Spring Half Marathon, and the task of producing the 2014 Boulder Marathon event simply became impossible.

The Half Marathon event was also to serve as the USATF CO Half Marathon Championships.
