The Heart and Sole Half Marathon which has quickly become an iconic race for Boulder has a major change in store for 2014. Instead of being held out at the Boulder Reservoir, this year’s course will be held right in the middle of Boulder. The start and finish will be at 14th and Pearl Street at the Lazy Dog Saloon and will make 2 loops around downtown Boulder, north on Broadway to Iris before heading south on 28th street, winding through the neighborhoods on Folsom, Glenwood Drive and 20th Street before winding back to downtown.
The USATF- sanctioned, chip timed road race will be held on Sunday June 29th, 2014. Runners and walkers are welcome wand will receive support from 11 aid stations along the well marked route. There will also be a 10k event which will run just one lap around the same loop.
This is big news for downtown racing as the Downtown Boulder Race Series has cancelled the West End 3k this year due to the construction on Pearl Street between the blocks of 11th and 9th. Downtown Boulder also cancelled the 2k race which was later in the summer due to low attendance. The Pearl Street Mile will still be held on July 9th.
The after party should be as big as ever with support from local businesses like Pizza Locale, Frasca, Avery’s, Boulder Creek Winery, Trader Joe’s, Smart Wool, Roll Recovery, Ultimate Direction, Savory Cuisine Catering, In Motion Rehabilitation, Niwot Market, Great Western Bank, and the Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill.
The event is put on by BRC Events and more info can be found at http://heartandsolehalf.com/
