The Chevron Houston Marathon was held this weekend in conjunction with the USA Half Marathon Championships. Many of Boulder’s elite traveled south to be a part of the championships.
As race favorite Olympian Meb Keflezighi took the win in 1:01:23, Englewood’s Aaron Braun took second just 15 seconds behind. Newton Elite athlete Fernando Cabada was 8th overall, Boulder Track Club‘s Sean Quigley in 11th, Newton Elite teammates Tyler McCandless who was just short of his PR took 17th and Jeremy Freed ran a PR for 21st place.

On the women’s side Boulder Running Company‘s Wendy Thomas took 4th place finish running 1:12:29, BRC teammate Mattie Suver took 6th, and a strong showing of Hudson’s Elite Tera Moody, Alia Gray and Kara Lubieniecki rounded out the top 10.

In the Chevron Houston Marathon, Patrick Rizzo ran 2:15:53 for 11th place and 3rd American finisher, earning him an Olympic ‘B’ standard narrowly missing the recently lowered ‘A’ mark of 2:15:00.
