Overcast skies with mildly threatening rain clouds provided a bit of relief from the heat Thursday night for the kick-off race of the Downtown Race Series, the West End 4k. The race series pits competitors of similar abilities in one of 4 waves. A shorter kids race, a Corporate Wave, an Open division and the Elite wave. This year again, both men and women were included in the elite wave. One of the highlights of the downtown races are they are spectator friendly as runners do two laps of the West End of Pearl, starting and finishing between 11th and 10th streets.
Team Stryd took honors in the Corporate Wave, while Stephen Pifer and Mara Olson took top spots clocking 11:30 and 13:01 respectively.
