[alert type=green ]Update May 19 – a tweet sent out by Betasso’s Ranger Fowler, the bridge is now open[/alert]
Work will begin May 16, on the eastern bridge that crosses Boulder Creek at the 2 mile marker on the Boulder Canyon Trail, a 1.9 mile trail that connects with the Boulder Creek Path leading west up the canyon. The bridge will be closed to all users during work hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. through June when the work is complete. The trail will be open up to the bridge, but trail users must turn around when they get to the bridge. Unfortunately there are no safe detours around the bridge. The bridge will be open though after each work day and on the weekends to allow for traffic as the Boulder Canyon Trail is popular for runners and for cyclists making their way up the canyon, often times in order to connect to the Betasso Preserve.
We realize this is a major inconvenience, but the bridge decking needs to be replaced. Each day, before work ends, we will ensure bridges are safe so users can cross the bridges. Bridges will be open when work is not actively occurring.
