Jenny Simpson set to compete in Senior Women’s 8K BoulderUSAXC
Boulder USA XC in conjunction with BX Race Management and USA Track & Field is proud to announce the addition of 2011 World Champion (1500m) Jenny Simpson to the Senior Women’s 8K field. Simpson will toe the USA Cross Country Championship line on February 15th in Boulder, CO.
A native of Oviedo, FL and a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, Simpson was a 5 time All American and 4 time NCAA Champion while competing for the Buffs. In 2009 she set the American Record in the steeplechase (9:12.50). She has also qualified for two Olympic Games in 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London).
No stranger to success on the cross country course, Simpson was a 2 time All American in cross country and 2 time NCAA runner up in 2006 and 2007. As a prep she competed in the 2004 and 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. As a team captain of the 2005 junior team she lead them to a 4th place finish.Post collegiately, Simpson signed with New Balance and trained under Juli Benson until 2012. At the end of 2012 Jenny returned to Boulder to work with Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs.
In January Simpson took 3rd place in the unique Cinque Mulini Cross Country race in Italy where athletes ran through five mills.
