Boulder Creek Path to be highlighted by Google Trike

The City of Boulder is pleased to announce that the Google Street View trike is coming to town. The Boulder Creek Path won the “Parks & Trails” category of Google’s Street View Special Collections Poll, a contest asking the public to vote for the places they’d most like to see on Google Maps.

Temporary trail closures at Boulder Valley Ranch due to Plane Crash

Three people died Saturday afternoon in the fiery midair collision of two small planes in the skies north of town, but three others escaped unharmed after the pilot of a glider being towed by one of the aircraft cut loose, maneuvered through a fireball and landed safely. Trails effected are: The Hidden Valley, Degge, Mesa Reservoir, Cobalt, and Eagle (closed from the valley to the west) trails are closed until further notice.

Subjects Needed for Uphill Running Study at CU

An experiment is being conducted in the Locomotion Lab on the CU Campus trying to understand how speed and incline affect the elastic energy return of the muscles and tendons. They are looking for males or females between the ages of 18-40 who can run a 5k in less than 20:00 minutes.

Registration Open for Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon & ½ Marathon

The Competitor Group (CGI) today announced that online registration has opened for the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon and Half Marathon. The race, scheduled for Sunday, October 17, 2010, is expected to draw over 15,000 runners and will feature entertainment along every mile of the scenic course. The first 500 runners to register for the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon & ½ Marathon can take advantage of special entry fees: $55 and $70, respectively.

Boulder Creek Path competes for a visit from the Google Trike

Last month, Google asked the public to submit nominations for where to first send the new trike. And the Boulder Creek Path made it to the list of finalists in the “parks and trails” category. Now the paved path that snakes from Boulder Canyon along the creek to flats east of town will compete against paths in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington for first dibs on the picture-taking bike.
