Santa Barbara, California — Spreading some extra holiday joy to running fans everywhere, rabbit announced today that Sandi Nypaver is the newest addition to their RADrabbitPRO team. Nypaver, whose passion for trail running has its roots in the wilds of Alaska, took a circuitous route to the top of the sport. “I’ve loved to run since I was a kid, but never had the courage to try out for the school cross country team,” she explained. Instead, she had settled for life on the basketball court and was midway through her college career when a radio ad caught her attention and launched her on that fateful trip to Alaska.

Not one to do things halfway, Nypaver jumped right into the deep end of her newfound sport. “As soon as I got back, I quit my college basketball team and signed up for a 100 mile race.” Proving once again that there really is no substitute for talent, Nypaver won that first race and has never looked back. To date, she has over a dozen victories to her name and is looking forward to a busy racing calendar in 2017. Her season will include several events in the Altra US Skyrunner series and culminate at The North Face 50 Mile Championship in December, where she will look to improve on her sixth place finish in last year’s race.

Nypaver lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she trains and coaches with her boyfriend and fellow trail star Sage Canaday. Obviously, running plays a central role in her life today and she observes that the sport “gave me the courage to take risks and make dreams a reality that some people once told me were unrealistic.” Nypaver was introduced to rabbit by the company’s co-founder, Monica DeVreese, and it did not take long
for her to fall in love with the clothes.

“The style is perfect and, because runners actually design the clothes, they’re also super functional.” It was more than just the quality of the products, though, that cemented the partnership for Nypaver. She also loves that everything is manufactured in Los Angeles, noting that, “I’m a firm believer that people should know whether or not their clothes are being made in respectable conditions.”

Fun facts about Sandi Nypaver :

  • My first trail/ultra race ever was a 100 miles and I somehow managed to win.
  • I found ultra/trail running through a series of interesting events that led to me doing a 10 day trek across Akshayuk Pass (Baffin Island) as a youth ambassador for the non-profit Impossible2Possible.
  • I believe in never passing up a carousel ride (unless it’s ridiculously expensive).
