Three former Buffs, Jenny Simpson, Sara Vaughn and Sara Sutherland, have all advanced to the 1500m finals on Sunday night at the Olympic Track Trials held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
New Balance’s Jenny Simpson led all qualifiers into the women’s 1,500-meter final, clocking 4:10.09 in her semifinal heat. In that same field were two other former CU Buffs, Sara Vaughn and Sara Sutherland who also made the cut. The top 12 runners of the two semi finals head to the final, 5 from each race + the next 2 fastest times.
Former Niwot High School graduate Elise Cranney was in the second heat of the semi-finals running 4:14 to place 18th overall, just out of the finals.
The women’s 1500m final will be held on Sunday July 10 at 7pm Mountain Time.
