The opening of the re-routed Upper Big Bluestem Trail comes about eight months after OSMP crews began work to re-align the trail away from important stream corridors that provide habitats for black bears and other species.
Beginning March 12th, 2012 theSouth Boulder Creek West Trailhead will be closed for improvements. Boulder County Open Space and Mountain Parks expects the closure to last between 3 weeks to a month. The trailhead, just west of Highway 93, 1/2 mile before Eldorado Springs Drive as you head out of town serves as a popular starting point for the South Boulder Creek and the Big Bluestem trails.
Construction on the new Greenbriar Connector Trail began last fall. The trail is expected to be opened December 8, 2011., it was identified in the West TSA Plan. The connector will provide neighborhood access from Greenbriar Blvd to the Big Bluestem Trail near Thomas Lane.
