The most popular running series in Colorado’s Pikes Peak region is adding chip timing for all of its events in 2012. The Triple Crown of Running events include the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile on June 10, the Summer Round up 12 Kilometer Trail Race on July 8, and the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon on the weekend of August 18-19.

A historic bike race, the North Boulder Park Classic to be held on Sunday July 10th, adds a new twist to this year’s event: Colorado’s first criterium style running race. The BolderBOULDER will kick start its official training program with the help of five Colorado based Olympians and professional runners. They will join a team of ‘BoldRunning’ coaches to take prospective participants on a sample fun run. The event will take place on Saturday March 12th at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Flatiron Crossing Mall in Broomfield, starting at 10:00am. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience or ability.

Most times I enjoy the feeling of toeing the line of a race waiting for its story to unravel. With meager training volume and a few quality workouts, I had shallow expectations for the outcome of the race. The only thing I planned to do was to run under control and finish strong.

Thanksgiving is a time for bringing family and friends together, sharing in what we are thankful for. This will be my first time in 15 years I will not be in Colorado to run with friends and my peers. Luckily Thankgiving Day races can be enjoyed in almost every community.

After a 2 year absence, Boulder’s favorite Spring training series returns! The DASH n’ DINE 5k Series comprises of six races held in April and May at Coot Lake in Boulder, CO. The series has a friends and family atmosphere with a cookout after each race.
