The Mile High Mile
The Mile High Mile
In association with the Boulder Road Runners Summer All-Comers Track and Field Series
Date: Aug 16, 2018
Time: 7:45 pm
Location: Potts Field, Boulder, CO
The thrill of the mile. On the track. At a mile high. It’s happening right here in Boulder. It’s a high-energy event called The Mile High Mile.
On the evening of August 16, at historic CU Potts Field, watch an exciting track race that will get everyone’s hearts pumping. Witness elite athletes dig deep for speed. Join fellow fans in cheering runners to their best. Help the community showcase a new, first-of-its-kind event.
Citizens and elites each get their turn to toe the line. Four laps around the track makes for one of the best spectating events in town.
The Mile High Mile is yet another milestone to add to Boulder’s world-class athletic scene. More importantly, the event is filling a gap in a running town that needs more track races.
Thanks to the Boulder Road Runners, the Mile High Mile is part of the club’s All-Comers Summer Track and Field Meet. Following the meet’s gamut of track and field events from the 100m to 3k, the race will take stage. The Mile High Mile will start with at least two waves of runners of all abilities, preceding both the men’s and women’s elite race, rather than earlier in the evening as usual.
Timing for all mile races will be done with Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) and participants will be given results with splits. The course is USATF certified.
Progressive time bonus payout
For runners finishing faster that our set thresholds, (Men: 4:30, Women 5:12) they will be awarded $25 + $5 per second under that threshold.
We will be also awarding the top 5 men and women in the elite fields and top Masters men and women to top 3.
Registration for the All-Comers mile heats will be taken on race day.
The price for the mile event as well with all other events, will be $7 for non-BRR members, $5 for members.
While we will not hold an official cut off time for these, our suggestions are as follows: Runners who can run 4:45 mins or better or 5:30 or better for women are eligible to be considered for the elite waves. If you would like to run in these waves please RSVP with this form so we can get a better sense of field size and can also know a bit about you for the announcer.
