Starting as early as Monday, March 7, the South Mesa Trailhead bridge will be closed to allow the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department to repair this important access point for the city’s southern trail system.
The South Mesa Trailhead will remain open for overflow parking, but users will not be able to access the southern trail system from the South Mesa Trailhead. However, users can still access those trails from the NCAR Trailhead or the South Boulder Creek West Trailhead during this closure. This closure is anticipated to last for two weeks, but it may be extended because of adverse weather conditions.
OSMP is repairing the bridge to provide emergency and utility vehicle access to city open space north of Eldorado Springs. Bridge repairs will also enable OSMP trail crews and contractors to safely access remote areas and repair infrastructure damaged by the 2013 floods. For more information on OSMP trail closures, please visit OSMP.org or call the department at 303-441-3440
