South Boulder Creek West Trailhead closed for improvements
Beginning March 12th, 2012 the South Boulder Creek West Trailhead will be closed for improvements. Boulder County Open Space and Mountain Parks expects the closure to last between 3 weeks to a month. The trailhead, just west of Highway 93, 1/2 mile before Eldorado Springs Drive as you head out of town serves as a popular starting point for the South Boulder Creek and the Big Bluestem trails.
During the closure OSMP will be adding more parking spaces for cars and a couple pull-through spots for horse trailers. A new 6′ wide pathway will ease traffic from the new parking area to the South Boulder Creek trail, the old outhouse will be removed and replaced with new restrooms just up the path and a new Regulatory Kiosk will be installed.
Both Big Bluestem and South Boulder Creek trails will be still be open and accessible via other trailheads like the South Mesa Trail off of Eldorado Springs Drive or the new Greenbriar connector trail.
