Royal Arch Trail closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays Through May for repairs

The Royal Arch is quickly accessible from Chautauqua Park

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department will begin weekday closures of the Royal Arch Trail starting next week so trail crews can rebuild steep sections of the trail.

Royal Arch Trail will be closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays starting April 21 – May 6

The trail will remain open Thursday through Monday.

The Front Range Climbing Stewards (FRCS), a local trail-building group that helped OSMP reopen the flood-damaged Royal Arch Trail, will assist the department in replacing stone steps that have sustained years of erosion damage.

These closures will help ensure public safety while FRCS quarries rock needed for trail repairs. OSMP may implement additional weekday closures later in May to complete improvements along the Royal Arch Trail.

Visitors may call OSMP at 303-441-3440 for more information about this planned work. Additional information about OSMP trails and temporary closures is available at www.osmp.org.
